How to Add Social Links to Your Squarespace Website

Hello guys, Jacob here. Adding social media links is a fantastic way to keep your visitors in the loop with your amazing work. Maybe they aren’t ready to invest, maybe they still have some questions. With social media links, you give them the option to see your work every single day and get those questions answered.

Let me show you how you can achieve this on your own Squarespace website. - Don’t forget to watch the video version.

Step 1: Navigate to the Squarespace Editor

Log into your Squarespace account and head to the editor for the site you want to update. This is where all the magic happens!

Step 2: Add Social Links in the Navigation Bar

If you'd like your social links to appear in the navigation bar, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the header section of your website in the editor.

  2. Click Edit Section and select Add Elements.

  3. From the elements menu, choose Social Links.

Squarespace will automatically display placeholders for popular platforms like Instagram or Dribbble. You can customize these links to match your accounts by following the next step.

Step 3: Link to Your Social Media Accounts

To link each icon to its respective social media account:

  1. Click the social link you want to edit.

  2. Copy the URL of your social media page.

    • On Windows: Press CTRL + C.

    • On Mac: Press CMD + C.

  3. Paste the URL into the field provided in Squarespace.

    • On Windows: Press CTRL + V.

    • On Mac: Press CMD + V.

For example, to add Facebook, paste your Facebook page’s URL. Once done, the icon for Facebook will automatically appear alongside your other social links.

Step 4: Add Social Links Elsewhere on the Page

If you'd like to include social links further down your page (e.g., in a “My Clients” section):

  1. Click Add Block in the desired section of your page.

  2. Search for Social Links in the block options.

  3. Drag and drop the block to your preferred location.

You can then use the same process to customize the links.

Step 5: Style Your Social Links

Squarespace offers several design options for your social links:

  • Align the icons to the left, center, or right.

  • Add padding around the icons with the Card option.

  • Use custom CSS for advanced styling, like animations or glowing effects.

These options let you tailor the appearance of your social links to match your website’s aesthetic.

Why Squarespace?

Squarespace’s intuitive design features make it easy to add social links, a capability that sets it apart from other platforms like Wix or Webflow. It’s super simple but really powerful, allowing you to maintain a professional look while providing advanced options for customization.
